Deanna Fei is the author of the novel A Thread of Sky (Penguin Press, 2010), a New York Times Editors’ Choice and an Indie Next Notable Book, also named a 2010 Best Book by the Chinese American Librarians’ Association. She was born in Flushing, New York, and has lived in Beijing and Shanghai, China. A graduate of Amherst College and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, she has received a Fulbright Grant, a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship, and a Chinese Cultural Scholarship. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Millions, and the Huffington Post, where she is a regular contributor. She currently lives in Brooklyn and is at work on a new novel.
